The icebergs on the poles are melting, the sea level will rise. According to Al Gore the future will bring small inconveniences. Fiction or fact? Everybody can decide for his/her own. In fact it might be convenient to have an amphibian car for crossing stretches of water caused by the rise in the sea level. So what options do we have in this category? The cultish Amphicar is out of the question. Too modern. German engineer Hans Trippel (1908-2001) devoted his life making the perfect amphibious car. Luckily for us he started in 1934 with a DKW F2 based racing car called the Land-Wasser-Zepp to which he added some necessary buoyancy bits. But he was not alone and he was not the first pioneering amphibious motorcar. If you fancy a pre-war amphibian car, this link may help you find a nice model of your choice. Do you know of any survivors? The pictured Peugeot is not a usable candidate: it's a cut-open boat hull on a Peugeot car chassis fitted with a propeller but no drive shaft driving it.
