Have you ever dreamed of driving around the famous Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps? Well, this is your chance. Get your pre-war car out and drive during the Spa Six Hours event. The Belgian Federation of Historic Vehicles is inviting owners of cars built before 1940 to drive on Wednesday the 12th of September, 2018 for 4 driving sessions including a 3-day entry to the 6 hours. That should be a lot of fun, doesn't it?
Spa-Francorchamps is not only a fantastic racetrack, but the whole environment is fantastic. A beautiful area to tour around with your car. The circuit itself started in 1920. Just after WW1, the Belgian Knight Jules de Thier was looking for a place to organize the race “Coupe de La Meuse”. They decided that a triangle of the normal road would be the perfect circuit. So in August 1921, the first race took place. But not with cars, as they wanted, but with motorcycles. As only one car signed in!
But after that; more and more cars found their way. The first Grand Prix of Belgium took place in 1922, which was won by an Imperia-Adabal (avg speed: 88.9km/h) and in 1924, the 24 hours of Francorchamps took place. In 1928, they asphalted the circuit and a few years later the famous Corner of Eau Rouge (Raidillon) was added.
Nowadays the circuit is the host of a formula 1 race and is considered one of the most thrilling circuits in the world. Definitely a place you want to drive yourself!
Please let us know if you are going. For more information, see the website of the Belgian Federation. Enjoy!
