Doesn't time fly? It feels like only yesterday we were inviting you to shelter from the February cold on the PreWarCar.com stand at Rétromobile, but now July is almost upon us and that means it won't be long before the Beaulieu Autojumble is here.
We'll be there again, of course - those of you who know us and know Beaulieu know that we wouldn't miss it for the earth. Not only is it one of the world's largest autojumbles, a veritable cornucopia of rare parts and memorabilia, it's also a jovial, relaxed atmosphere where you can meet friends, pour yourself a beer, and spend hours talking cars.
In addition to the trade stands, you'll also find lots of interesting cars for sale, from restored rarities to restoration projects with plenty of potential. In 2022, it encompassed everything from a unique 1929 Morris Minor fire engine to a derelict 1937 Tatra 75 convertible, so who knows what you'll find this year?
If you managed to locate us among the labyrinth of stands last year, you'll probably have had lots of questions to ask about the racy Lancia Ardea barchetta special we were exhibiting. This year, we'll be showing something just as exciting, so why not come and find us and have a chat?
Remember, this is the International Autojumble, which attracts buyers and sellers from many countries, not just from Britain, so European and American enthusiasts will be well catered for. If you're a trader from the Continent, why not book yourself a stand. It couldn't be easier.
Admission to the Autojumble (2 - 3 September 2023) naturally includes admission to the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu Palace House and gardens, and the mediæval abbey ruins, which to our mind makes your visit excellent value for money.
We're looking forward to it, and we hope to see some of you there.
Book accommodation NOW. The event is earlier than usual this year and so is now during the English and Welsh school holidays. As Beaulieu is in the popular tourist area of the New Forest and near the coast, there will be many more tourists around than normal and so much of the local accommodation is likely to be full already. Be prepared to travel some distance from your accommodation.
Take plenty of cash. There is a cash machine/ATM on site, but these have run out of cash at times in previous years. Not all stallholders will take payment by card and you have a much better chance of getting a good deal if you pay in cash. Some will also accept payment in Euros, it's always worth asking.
Wear comfortable shoes; bring some sort of trolley to carry your purchases in; don't think you can "do it in one day" - you can't - well, not properly anyway!; if you can, bring in sandwiches and drinks as the cost of these at the May event this year was very high indeed - there are taps near the entrance so you can refill your own water bottles for free.
