Last weekend has shown that 'Schwetzingen' has the potential to grow into one of Europe's best Concourses. All ingredients are there. Best card is without any doubt the superior ambiance of a well kept palace garden with the backdrop of an imperial summer dwelling (click)... The small town itself is full of lovely restaurants, cafés and Biergarten's ...all within 2 minutes walk of the palace garden. Between the many great cars check final results including typical concourse cars like the brilliantly restored Mercedes 540 K (a Kienle restoration) a teardrop Talbot Lago etc., also other gems turned up. Most surprising was the car which looked like having had a 'sympathetic restoration' but in fact was untouched since new. First paint, first everything, a really very hard to believe, immaculate 1938 Triumph Dolomite Roadster. You even can see the palace agreed with the jury's decision for this best preserved car... check the marble prize. One point which needs attention, the 12.000 visitors of last weekend practically disappeared in the immense gardens. The good news is, here is room for new ideas, room for hundreds of more cars, room for tens of thousands of visitors. We want to thank organiser AVD and more specific Johannes Huebner for a great event and for an intimate first PreWarCar picnic. Schwetzingen, Auf Wiedersehen!
