There have always been women competing in motorsport. However, these days the number of ‘girls’ competing in historic racing and rallying is disappointingly low. A new organisation, called the Racy Ladies, wants to remedy this situation and for a start they have put together a track day for lady drivers only. This is not intended in any way, to be a sexist statement – quite the reverse. The Racy Ladies believe the way to get more women involved in motorsport is to get them onto a track to enjoy the experience of driving quickly without any timing or competitive programme. An aim that PreWarCar happily encourages! The first Racy Ladies track day will be held next Sunday, November 9th at Rockingham Speedway, Northamptonshire. Find out more on the website of the Racy Ladies. No doubt the ‘girls’ will be able to show the chaps a thing or two about how to really drive a car!
UPDATE: We have this plan to publish a calender with ladies in the fast lane. The photos made by you, with girls old enough to have a driving permit or racing licence, yet young enough for a brilliant smile....
