Vauxhall without memory.... (UPDATE: for sale in 1953..)

You are looking at a 1937  Vauxhall 14 Light Six, 1781cc, four speed gearbox, Bendix mechanical brakes and independent front suspension.
The 2+2  drophead bodywork is by Whittingham & Mitchel of Fulham, London and is believed to be a prototype which never went into production. It was found in the early eighties in premises under railway arches, again in Fulham and rescued hours before it was due to be removed for scrap.
No other example is known to exist and despite extensive research no documentary or photographic evidence has so far been found about this car. It has been restored over the past six years by the present owner who would be very interested to know if anyone recognises it or the registration - CRK 600.

Editor: we  hope to hear two things from you:
1. who sent in this photo as there was no name with the article...?
2. can you tell more about CRK600. Please let us know.

Great to see CRK600. I was the fellow who rescued the old girl from underneath the arches in Fulham Many years ago. Last I saw her she was in the very good hands of the owners club Membership Secretary. I remember writing that enquiry to Michael Sedgwick. I trust the Vauxhall is still well cared for and admired.

Correction to my earlier email;
Michael Sedgwick was curator of the Montague Motor Museum until 1966.
The above subsequently became the National Motor Museum.

My apologies for omitting my name from my submission. I would like to think it was CRK 600 in the Autocar advert but my car is '37. However the owners club (of which I am Membership Secretary) is not aware of a W&M 2+2 body on a Vauxhall chassis. I also have a letter (written to the club's founder in response to an enquiry) from Michael Sedgwick, one time curator of the National Motor museum, in which he states he had never come across this model.

In 1953, for sale on the Autocar Magazine, was a "VAUXHALL 1936 14hp 2/4-seater. coach work by Whittingham & Mitchell, works-
reconditioned, shopwing approximately 9,000 miles, £125." The seller was Chiltern Cars of 11a Water Lane, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
