Earlier Text: Walking around at Rétromobile one starts wondering into which direction all this is going? Three cars unveiled during Rétro last weekend epitomize this thought. 1. This never restored Hispano-Suiza with open driver coachwork by the small coachbuilder Lambert.... take a peek inside at the dashboard(click) and click the photo to get inside. Frequent visitors of Retromobile will immediately recognise the hand of master scrap-sculptor Martin Otto. And yes this 1:10 Hisso is brandnew! Check for construction details. Second example is the massive Fiat resto-creation by Pur Sang Argentina, based on a true chassis and similar engine. Like it or not, what they make is a true craftman's job. Third example is without a shade of doubt PreWarCar's Best of Show, the by Bonhams reveiled well maintained, but very unspoilt Bugatti T 59 works GP-car. Superb car in every aspect. Desirability. Rarity. Provenance. Clear history file. No restoration damage. An inch thick patina, not from an aerosol artist, but by the teeth of time. Let's all pray to that the next owner (24 June auction, Goodwood Festival of Speed) will understand all this, and is not going to respray his 'Van Gogh'.
