Ready for London-Brighton 2002 ?

Amsterdam, NL. A threewheeled treasure found not so long ago is this 1902 Auto Moto. The make also known as Chavanet, Gros, Pichard was a French, St.Etienne based firm that started producing motorcycles. Their first cars were sold in England as well in a GBP 100 costing kit. The current owner of this one cylinder single seater is restoring the car without changing any of the sumptuous patina where possible. Note the one cylinder engine with watercooled head and the pre Flintstone cylinder shaped radiator that is protruding forward like a WW I aeroplane fighter machinegun. Next year we hope to revisit this Auto Moto and see it on its wheels. Click the image to read details about this year's London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. (photo Jan Stellingwerff)
