Church is coming your way. (update: about the arms of the bishop)

Tired of a tough week of work? Want to go to church, but like to stay in bed a little longer? No radio needed, no TV-preacher, no web-service. When you lived in Belgium in 1916 this fine rolling altar could come your way. Not sure it was meant for army service or other open air congregations, but click the thumbnail below how well equiped she was when in full service.  Anton van Luijk - who sends this photo - says it is a 1916 Renault 50 hp, with the body made by a Dutch coachbuilder. And he likes to know who that may have been. Well Anton, we'll help you praying tomorrow to get the right answer.

Fer Cools is right, the coat of arms on the right side is that of Cardinal Désiré-Joseph Mercier of Mechelen.

The logo with the lion on the car looks very much like that of the NMBS that was used on trams and buses. The right one must be a coat of arms of a bishop. Maybe this can be retraced.

I´m the happy spanihs owner of a 12 HP 1919 EU of 4 cilinders and in my opinión the pictured cars seems more a 12 or 15 HP tan a 50. Front and rear wings are very similars to mine and hood is too little to hide a big block. Only the radiator size seems bigger tan mine.
Finaly, what a nice pic and car !!!! Perfectly remember to all fanatics that if you dont find a spare part at PreWar stuff, may be you are needing some extra help to found them....

First of all, I must admit that I don't know the cochbuilder. Unfortunately I wasn't able to view the Schutter & Van Bakel photo, so I can't check. However, it would really surprise me if a coachbuilder from the protestant Amsterdam would produce a roman-catholic product like this Renault. This would be more appropriate for a coachbuilder from the southern provinces. Renault agents existed in Maastricht (quite near Belgium!) and there were coachbuilders too (Jean Stegen and the Maastrichtse Carrosseriefabriek Van Lijf & Co.). And otherwise there were the well-known Lathouwers in Den Bosch or Akkermans in Oud-Gastel.

It looks remarkably like a Limousine de Voyage by Schutter and Van Bakel

If it turned up today it would be an ideal vehicle for advertising a vehicle restoration company with "let us spray" onthe side.
