In November, we published a delightful story about a lady of action who, away from her job as an Engineering Officer in the Royal Air Force, spent her free time behind the wheel of various thoroughbred Vintage cars. The woman in question is one Mrs. James, who remains an enthusiast today at 93 years old, although she has now given up driving.
Her son, Jimmy James, is keen to trace her old cars and reunite her with them. The Voisin outlined in the earlier story has been successfully traced and good progress has been made towards locating one of her Lagondas, but another car she owned was a 1928 'Blue Label' Three-Litre Bentley. What has become of that?
As you can see, it was in no fit state for the road when the photographs were taken but we know its identity: chassis HT1633 and engine HT1637. Its registration number at the time was CT 9330. It's quite probable that it survives today, and the likelihood is that it sports a replica Vanden Plas body, but we've no way of knowing since the registration number is not known to the DVLA. We expect the plate has been sold or the car has gone abroad, but we can only speculate.
Whoever owns HT1633 today owes Mrs. James a debt of gratitude. If the photograph requires any explanation, this Bentley had been sent to the scrapman, and it was she he rescued it from his clutches in 1949. She had the best of intentions to restore it and fit a new body, and in 1950 she filled our her application form for the Bentley Drivers' Club but, sadly, the plans never came to pass and she sold it to a dealer in 1952. Happily, the dealer also said that he would restore it, so we can only hope he was as good as his word.

Mother is so pleased with the progress to date in trying to trace 'her car'. A little disappointed, but not surprised to find that engine chassis and registration number are no longer all on the same vehicle.
I am so grateful to find such a helpful group of enthusiast through PreWar.com
