Derek Smith comments: "Isuggest the car may be a Crossley 20/25 hp manufactured by Crossley Motors at Gorton - Manchester- England. The body style / bulkhead and wings are very similar to my own 15hp of 1912. The men are not soldiers but ordinary working men or youths dressed as they would be in the 1920s. I suggest they are probably a group of local lads who have found an old car and posed with it. " Thank you Derek!
EARLIER TEXT: 7 men in uniform and an RHD car. It took me some time to realise that there is no windscreen, and then all the other questions came. Is it an army car? Or, what kind of uniforms do we see? From which country do the men come? Which make is the car? Which year is it? A Mercedes? Take a look at the larger version of this great photo. Not the lack of a door for the driver. The styling looks plus wirewheels look slightly post-WW I, but very easily it could be earlier. I have to admit that my knowledge of these early cars in not up to standard. Who is going to shed into this? Please send your comments to [email protected] (photo collection Jiri Langer).
