Many people say “I can write a book about my life”. Very few really do. Mel Anthony did and he has quite a story to tell. Mel started Midget Racing in 1946 and continued to do so until 1956. Midget Racing is virtually unknown in Europe, but in the USA it’s quite a big sport that started in the 1930s. They were small racing cars, or better miniaturized Indianapolis cars (click, # 16 is Mel), that were cheap to run. They mostly raced on dirt tracks. Mel’s book concentrates on these years and it includes profiles of the best drivers in the business. But he also tells of his youth, his first cars and how he became addicted to Midget Racing.
