Heavy snowfall in Europe made us take this photo. Who mounted the snowchains? The photographer? The subscript reads: "Miss Agnes and Miss Lillian Hudson, leading ladies of the Rose of the Alhambra Co., in Miss Brown's Berliet car, on one of her daily trips from Terrytown, NY to the Majestic."
The 1907 photo was found by Andy Watt (UK Berliet owner). He wonders if this is a pre-Alco car. The analysis is by David Greenlees (US Alco specialist): "I think that it is in fact US built after comparing it with a very clear photo
of an '07. They called it the American Locomotive Motor Car - under
license by Berliet - instead of the American Berliet. They were very wonderful cars that were built until Sept. of 08 when the Co. discontinued the license and
came out with their own legendary design and changed the name to
Alco. They went on to much fame winning the 09 & 10 Vanderbilt
Cup races and others." (click photo for more detail)
