Snowed-under mystery car

Our comrades "down under" might not particularly appreciate it, but I'd like to present this photo from my collection showing two snowed-under cars which was taken in March 1940 in Lebanon (!).

You have certainly noticed the writing "Palace Hotel Becharre" on the photo.  Even people in the Northern hemisphere are hardly aware of the fact that snow is not that unusal in mountainous areas of the Middle East. Actually, there are several ski resorts in the region around the town of Bsharri which is situated in a valley at almost 5,000 feet altitude.

I believe I managed to identify the car on the right in the picture - it's a 1937 Studebaker, in my opinion. I might be wrong, of course, since I am not a US car expert.

What intrigues me much more, however, is the car on the left. I assume, it's a car from an American manufacturer, as well. Or could it be a French vehicle?

Dear all,

Even if the car in question appears be a 1934 Chrysler than a Plymouth, Reg's initial suggestion eventually helped me to identify a car in a another photo from my collection.

I highly appreciate the pivotal role of prewar.com and its entusiastic readers when it comes to solving such mysteries and inspiring the old car community all over the world, thank you!

1934 Chrysler CA, not the Plymouth. The bumpers on the Plymouth were straight and they seldom had twin horns not to mention duel wipers.

Gentlemen, after some more research, I tend to believe that the car in question is a 1934 Chrysler CA or CB (difficult to assess from this angle, whether it's got the short or the long wheel base).

The strange-looking horn mounted on the middle of the front bumper could be an aftermarket accessory (or could have supported a temporary snow plough...)

The 1934 Plymouth would have had different bonnet louvres, in my opinion.

I think it's another Studebaker of a couple of years earlier vintage, maybe 1934.

I´m not an US car expert, too - but I think, it is a 1934 Chrysler CA!?

The left car is a 1934 Chrysler product, most likely a Plymouth

I was working in Algeria, in late 70's, in a place called Annaba. We were building a new town there.
I was living at the time, in a gorgeous Spanish style hotel, on Seraidi Mountain.
When I started out for work, one morning, I was surprised to see snow beginning to fall, and by the time I reached the bottom, into the town, I was amazed to see people out in the streets, just looking at the snow. They said though, that it hadn't snowed there for some 20 years.
