Star of the southern hemisphere.

Juri Castricum (24) from Holland is doing some sightseeing & barnchecking downunder....: "I'm staying at the moment with a friend of my father here in Sydney, who has also some nice vintage cars. A barn fresh 1924 STAR 20/50 found in a shed near Canberra, where it was stored since 1951. He bought the car 3 years ago (click: as found ) from the grandson of the original owner and after that he did some work on the engine. So now we do some work on the STAR, changing the front wheel bearings, the universal joints of the drive shaft, and try to make the engine run after 53 years being asleep (click) . We worked on the magneto to get the right timing, placed the radiator back with a new honeycomb, renewed all the water hoses and cleaned the carburetor. So after this, we cranked the engine and with some little help, it RUNS after its long sleep!!! That was great. What noise and smoke !!! We are very happy. So now we will travel around Australia to search for more interesting cars or junkyards." (photos Juri Castricum; except 'as found' by owner) In Canberra - by the way - they did very interesting research on the old paint of a 1924 Bean. After reading that you'll think twice before stripping paint from old cars:Check/click >>: (Science.Canberra.edu.au). Check Juri Castricum father's shop in Holland.
