Steyr descending back from Scotland to Austria (Upd. Zoller blower missing)

Last weekend up in Scotland was a most interesting auction of the Freddie Cunningham collection. The collection of an eclectic and passionate car enthusiast. Most cars are projecst and were kept in 'as found' condition. These are the kind of collections that are getting more and more interest and the projects are in many cases unmolested originals. Many rare Brits like  making, but also various oddballs including no less than three(!) Vale Specials... But let's concentrate on the continental cars that came to light in Scotland. A 1938 Delage Drophead Coupe in poor condition; a 1938 Delahaye Drop Head Coupe, slightly better; a 1936 Amilcar Compound, poor; a 1936 Hotchkiss Grand Sport Roadster, in need of tons of TLC.  But star of the show was -according to Theo Castricum  (thnx for sending the photos Theo!)-  the 1939 McEvoy Steyr shown here. Michael McEvoy was a tuning specialist who had the Alfa like roadster body in alloy over ash custom built by Jensen (click for rear end). The Austrian Steyr chassis comes with a Steyr 2,2 six cylinder and was ordered just before the war. We understand that possibly three of these cars were made and hope to hear from you if you know if another survives. The McEvoy Steyr Roadster by Jensen showing here was bought by an Austrian collector. We understand next October will see another auction organised by the Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club .

Michael McEvoy was responsible for the McEvoy Morris specials which were supercharged with special Morris 8 blocks. Does anyone know if the CMY (Cox Morris Yule)special raced successfully prewar in Ireland by Davy Yule, prepared by R D Cox was one of these? From photographs I have seen it looks like one.

Hi Robbie,
The correct name is Steyr, but often (Austrian) people say "Steyer" to these cars.

Hi there, it was me who bought the car.
Michael McEvoy was UK representative of Zoller blowers in the 30ies and so this car was equipped with a Zoller blower which sadly is missing.
Documentation about these blowers is difficult to obtain, so it would be great to receive information about the setup on this car and possibly even the missing blower, carburettor and manifolds.

Thanks and regards

Thomas
