Stutz is one of very few American makes which built real sportscars. They almost won at the 24Hours race of Le Mans in 1929 (Second overall behind Bentley). Their best car was the fabulous straight eight twin cam 32 valvesDV32 modell. The Stutz DV32 and the Duesenberg J were market leaders in the 8cylinder engine market of the 1930’ies. There were about 300 DV32 built.

The car on sale was ordered new by wealthy American writer C.F. HustonMiller (1885-1982) who was then regularly staying at Grand Hotel in Vevey/Switzerland. He must have been influenced by the Bugatti Royale Coach byKellner when he ordered that car. In 1958 he returned to USA with the car andadvertised it for sale in 1970 in Antique Automobile Vol 34  (Still with original paint, interior and only27160 miles…). The car was bought by the Pettit Museum in Virginia, known fortheir remarquable original unrestored cars. The Pettit’s did not used the carand in 1998 it was auctioned by Christie’s and returned to Switzerland. The newowner started immediately a restoration, dismantled the whole body but neverfinished it. The car is thus a documented three owners from new andfantastic low mileage car. The car is for sure UNIQUE and one of very few StutzDV32 bodied by European coachbuilders.
