Sunbeam?

Letter to the editor

Hello, an acquaintance has shared a family photo album with me and I'm curious about the car shown in these two pictures from Clinton, British Columbia, circa 1913. B. C. registration archives identify it as a Sunbeam. I'm wondering if any of your readers can confirm that and provide a year and model?

Thanks,

Peter

Here is a photo of a WW1 Napier ambulance which also has a front axle with a U shape centre. It must of had problems of wanting to dig into the dirt so a shield was improvised to help stop that.

This looks to be a Colonial model with higher ground clearance. They did this by putting different springs with more of an arc on. I don't understand why they used the same front axle with the U shape in the middle instead of replacing it with a straight axle. I am sure that U shape was a problematic land anchor.

The car at the front is a Sunbeam. it could be a 16/20, possibly a 20hp or 35 hp made between 1906 and 1910. It's identifiable by the oil baths for the drive chains. The picture I have attached is from a 1908 catalogue.
