Sweet litte thing. (update: only 50 fourwheelers)

When you own a d'Yrsan cyclecar there's little risk that a similar car will pop up athe same race or show. D'Yrsan was primarily known for threewheelers. This Ruby engined and Cozette blown example is probably among less than a handfull surviving fourwheeled specimen. The car has been off the road for many years but after a carefull recommisioning it is ready for being tested for the  2013 season.

Jacques Potherat has written down the history of D'Yrsan, partly from interviewing Raymond Siran de Cavanac, the genius behind this make.
I have a copy of part 3 of Potherat's history (I guess it is from the Album du Fanatique de l'Automobile of the early 1970s but so far I have not been able to trace it back) and at the end of this part there is some statistics:
- in total 587 three- and fourwheelers have been produced
- only 50 of these were fourwheelers
- besides 7 "châssis de course" have been built.
So this survivor is very rare indeed and I know of only two other surviving fourwheelers.

Sporting cars of that era, especially supercharged ones, were rather prone to oiling their plugs.
Can you imagine the unhappy mechanic trying to change these ones in a hurry with the exhaust manifold glowing above them??
