‘Joe’s Garage’ was a private automotive museum owned by Joe MacPherson. During his life he became a passionate collector of automobiles. Now that Joe passed away his impressive collection will be auctioned by RM-auctions on June 14. From the many lots one immediately caught our fancy… this Miller 122. It’s one of just seven 122s completed before the 1923 Indianapolis 500 race. It finished fourth with Eddie Hearne driving. In later years this Miller underwent all kinds of modifications, including a rebuilt after an accident when it was also updated with a supercharger. During its career the 122 went from board tracks to dirt tracks, but whereas other cars were hacked about, this one remained intact and in original condition. Check out lot 240 of RM’s catalogue. You could be just in time for the 2008 Miller Meet at the Milwaukee Mile. (all images courtesy RM-auctions) (RB)
