The Courtyard Chassis Mystery (UPDATE IV: Delage, Renault or TH. Schneider?)

What to do when you have an old chassis lying around and don’t know what it is? Make a nice photo, make carefull measurements, send it to us and there's a good chance we’ll publish it! Like this chassis that came in from Christoph Marchal who lives in France. All we can tell you about the chassis is that are no special markings on it, but as it’s 3.50 meters long (11 feet and almost 8 inches) we think that it comes from a medium to big sized car. The width at the front is 67 centimeters (26 inches) and in the middle - the widest part - it measures 80 centimeters (31.5 inches). We have already heard suggestions such as Renault, Darracq or perhaps FN? Who can tell for sure? Mail us!

Update IV comes from Peter Ransom: ‘It appears that there's no chassis cross-member where you'd expect to it if the car used a front-mounted radiator. Maybe this rules out a lot of "conventional" models? Is this perhaps a big Renault or TH. Schneider?”
Update III by Lee Gohlike: “seems similar to many French chassis judging by the crossmembers. It may have been built by a chassis builder rather than a mark. Rear says after WW1.”
Update II: Claes Rocklin isn’t so sure that the frame shown is a Delage as he owns a 1913-14 one: "It doesn’t look the same".
Update I by David Barker: "Both the engine and gearbox bearers look like a Delage to me, with the 3/4 elliptic rear suspension as on some of the CO type. 1918-1921."
