The first motorcar in Stanley
You see Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gardner with their little one. They are the proud owners of the first motorcar in the gold rush town of Stanley in British Columbia, Canada. Stanley could be found by following Highway 26 east from the city of Quesnel, but no longer exists.
As you will understand, we are interested in the pre-war car in this photograph. And you can probably guess what the next question will be. Is there an expert who can tell us more about the make, the model and the year of the car? Please comment below if you can help us, or if there are any other aspects of interest to be noted.

I would like to thank John for a good and informative response, I thought it was a Colonial model Napier with the raised suspension. This must have been one of the best Packards to come out of the factory.

The car pictured is a wonderful 1908 Packard Model 30 UB close-coupled. The model 30 Packards utilized a 432 cu. in. four cylinder T head engine with cylinders cast in pairs. This was mounted in a 124" wheelbase chassis with a transaxle at the rear. The model thirty (30) was produced for 1907-1912. The close-coupled was sporty body style with a single additional seat behind and out of sight in this view.
