Commercials heading for Brighton

It’s not only pre-1904 automobiles that make the annual pilgrimage from London to Brighton. There’s another run that’s just as interesting as it’s open only to commercial cars. Organized each year by the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society, this year will mark the 50th Run! One of the enthusiastic participants will be Roger Bishop who has entered no less than three vehicles. Of course his 1924 Bullnose Morris Traveller's van (click main pic), which is believed to be the sole remaining example; then his 1928 Morris 1 Ton Pantechnicon and last but not least the 1929 5 ton Foden, the last steam waggon built with chain steering. Roger will be easy to recognize as all three vehicles are sign written in the livery of Bishop’s Furniture Movers. This year the Run will take place on the 1st of May and starts around 07.00 hours from Crystal Palace with the traditional finish at Maderia Drive by 14.00 hours with a concours and trophy giving. Don’t miss it, it’s fun!
