The Prescott way.

One of the very last visitors to leave the camping site opposite Prescott Hill last Sunday was this 1926/27(?) Humber Limousine. Miles away from being a racing car and not competing in any way, the car and its inhabitants tell exactly what Prescott's spirit is about. Although the car missed just one cylinder and although these people only had a 4 miles drive to do that night, they kept nutting and fettling for hours. The problem was said to be a worn out bit of thread in the carburettor and judging from the many starting attempts it wasn't easy to solve. When the driver almost gave up, his wife said in a way only the British master:"Are we winning dear?" About half an hour after dark at last cylinder nr. 4 (or was it nr.2 ?) came back to life. And happily honk-honking the Humber murmured away along the dark country lane from Gotherington to Gretton. (photo by editor)
