The Stanley Hotel Bus

The identical twin brothers Francis E. and Freelan O. Stanley were of course famous for their Stanley Steamers. Due to his poor health Freelan O. moved west to the kinder climate of Colorado. There he built The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park near the Rocky Mountain National Park. Of course buses were needed to take the tourist to and from the area, so what better way to go than their own twelve-passenger Stanley Steamer Mountain Wagons. The Model 810's were mostly 1912 and 1913 and they were followed by the model 826 (click) (conceptcarz.com). The Stanley Hotel has been a very popular sight for car club shows over the years. Hugh Nutting took this b&w photo (click for enlargement) at a VMCCA meet about 30 years ago. Contact us (RB)
