Traction for Jean Moulin

Montceau-les-Mines is a small town in France which has a college named after Jean Moulin, one of the Resistance fighters during World War II. To preserve his memory the students of the college decided to create a monument dedicated to him and others who died during the war. And what better monument than a restored pre-war Citroën Traction Avant, with the markings of the FFI (French Interior Forces) and the Cross of Lorraine? Together with several teachers some ten students, all between 12 and 14 years old bought a Traction 11B and are now restoring it to its condition when it left the factory on January 17, 1940. It is estimated that the project will take three years and all work, dismantling; cleaning and re-assembly, will be done by the students, together with several volunteers, although professionals for bodywork, interior trim and chroming will be needed to do what the students cannot accomplish on their own. The total budget for a high-quality restoration like this comes to around 36,200 Euros. The students plan to complete the overall task in three phases with parallel fundraising: body and chrome, engine and associated front power train, interior and finishing touches. Their progress can be seen on their blog. We think it's a great project that deserves support.
