Unidentifiable axle

Letter to the editor

We have an unidentified front axle, which we thought to be from an SS Jaguar, but we have been unable so far to confirm this. The feature that has thrown us is the two central mounting holes, which do not appear to be a feature of any models we have seen. We are perplexed at their purpose.  I have attached two photos. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.
