Auburn, Indiana
March, 2025
All roads lead to Indiana this spring, with Worldwide Auctioneers’ annual Enthusiast Auction in Auburn promising collectors its most substantial and varied offering yet. Showcasing three great collections with over 150 cars, early consignments in the expanded sale also include an array of modern sports cars, fine pre-war automobiles, select American muscle, and classic European marques, the majority offered without reserve. The Enthusiast Auction is the culmination of Enthusiast Week in Auburn which runs from April 22nd to 26th and includes the fifth annual Enthusiast Tour, a one-of-a-kind, quintessentially Midwestern classic driving tour, that takes in unique private collections, specialist automotive stops, distinctive local attractions and some fine Indiana dining, before rolling right back into Auburn for the Enthusiast Auction itself.
Offered from one collection are a selection of distinctive automobiles, including an elegant 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet with coachwork by Sindelfingen, comprehensively and expertly serviced and accompanied by the original data plate and copy of original Kommission paper. It will cross the block alongside a fascinating and rare preservation-class 1938 Mercedes-Benz 320 LWB Kombination Roadster, with arresting original Sindelfingen coachwork, elegantly appointed with multiple accessories. Collection highlights also include a comprehensively refurbished, numbers-matching 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage with five-speed manual gearbox.
The Enthusiast Auction will also present the all no-reserve Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum Collection. As the only museum in the country whose cars were used on a weekly basis to give guests rides, this collection has given enthusiasts an authentic driving experience in the south California area for years. Proceeds from the sale will fund an ongoing scholarship program for automotive students—an opportunity to buy a very fine car for a worthy cause. A crowning jewel of the museum since its opening is a rare and highly collectable 1940 Packard 180 Victoria convertible by Darrin, driven and admired in the exclusive 2004 and 2013 Pasadena Tournament of Roses.
Also offered at no reserve is a carefully curated collection of vehicles intended for use off the beaten track, assembled with keen attention to mechanical reliability. Highlights include a triple-black 1959 Chevrolet El Camino, with desirable factory 348 Tri-Power V8 engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission, the recipient of a body-off restoration by Tim Stanley.
Enthusiast Week will run from April 22nd to 26th at Kruse Plaza, Worldwide’s Auburn, Indiana, head office, with the Enthusiast Auction scheduled for April 25th and 26th. Aficionados can also look forward to the usual extensive selection of some of the best automobilia and memorabilia to be found. Full details on auction admission and bidder registration, as well as tour registration, are available online at worldwideauctioneers.com.
