The Light Car and Edwardian Section had their annual ‘jolly’ in Wales last weekend, blessed with dry weather and indeed sunny blue skies on Friday and Sunday. The VSCC in general is a Club for people who use their cars, the Section is the same but more so! Most of the 130 cars taking part were driven to the event, and included some rare types and models including Marlborough, Horstman, Gwynne, Calthorpe, Rosengart, Hupmobile, as well as the more often seen GN, Austin 7, Morris Minor, and Humber cars. The event was based as usal on the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells. Saturday was reserved for the Tour, over 100 miles of driving the delightfully quiet (if at times steep!) roads to the attractive little town of Kington. Saturday evening saw the Annual Dinner and Prize Giving with 300 people sitting down to a superb meal followed by a splendid after dinner speech given by Tom Langham, the well known musician who entertained us all with a brilliant resume of his career in music and old cars followed by virtuoso renditions on the banjo. Sunday dawned bright and frosty for the Trial, with cars attempting to climb nine local steep(ish) and muddy(ish) local hills, a peculiarly British pursuit. Much fun was had by all before all adjouned to the Brynafon Country House Hotel in Rhayader for lunch and the Trial results. A super weekend in super country, with super motor cars and super people!
