What became of the smuggler's Bugger? (UPDATE)

Update: both Bob Swanson and Jaap Horst think that the car must be a Type 30. According to Jaap the difference with a Type 23 is hard to see. Bob says that the length of hood and the bell shaped radiator tell the difference.
Earlier Text:In postwar Germany not too many original cars were left. Before the war this Bugatti (T 22, T 30 , T 40 ? year ?) was caught while smuggling cigarettes, a fairly popular past-time in those days. For this purpose a light strong car was quite usefull. This car was sold new in Wuppertal and had a first registration in 1928/29 in Straelen, Nord Rhein Westfalen. The German licence plate reads IY-69921 ("Landkreis Geldern"), no information is being kept there any more. A research in the non-digitised older archives of the national 'Kraftfahrt Bundesamt' has been started but it will take some time before hand-picked results will come out of that. Or not. Anybody in Germany who remembers the car or has seen or heard recently of the IY-69921? Please write to [email protected] (photo courtesy Hubert Kranz Oldtimer)
