What is it? Quiz #472

This weeks quiz car is recently acquired. We are not going to give away too much as we think you might recognise this car. This time we will only give you three hints:

- The traditional shape of this make radiators emerged in 1908 and continued on all models up to 1930.

- Currently, there is a pre-war car of the same make for sale in our online Marketplace. But this one is a very different model and 15 years younger.

- This particular car was displayed in Lord Montagues his motor museum (which you might know as Beaulieu) from the late sixties till the seventies.

Who recognises this pre-war car? Please comment below, if you think you know the solution to this week's quiz. We hope to receive a lot of good answers before Monday (with no more than 100 words).

If you are very confident and sure you can give us the correct answer to the quiz, then we have another question for you. We are very interested to know if there are any other cars of this make, year and type still around that you might know of.

Have a good weekend everyone!

In 1907 Hillman-Coatalen, was founded by William Hillman and Louis Coatalen a designer and engineer. They launched the 25hp Hillman-Coatalen, which entered the TT, it crashed but made an impression. When Coatalen left to join Sunbeam, it was renamed the Hillman Motor Car Company. First cars were large, a 9.76-litre 6-cylinder and a 6.4-litre four. A smaller car, designed by A.J. Dawson, a side-valve four 9 hp of 1913, was selling in “great” numbers. This developed into this model 10 and had a 1593 cc sidevalve unibloc engine with aluminum pistons, from 1919 onwards electric start and lights were standard.

Not sure again, this might be a 1914 Star 15.9 hp, made by the Star Engineering Co Ltd of Wolverhampton. Built from 1913 to 1924 in about 800 specimens, it helped making Star the sixth-biggest car manufacturer in Britain by 1914.
