What‘s the life story of this 1929 Hotchkiss AM 80?

We have received a message from Patrick who tells us he is the lucky owner of a beautiful 1929 Hotchkiss AM 80 which he bought via PreWarCar.com. He is now looking for more information about it.

Old pictures of the car show licence plate PM 6233 from Palma de Mallorca(?), possibly taken some time in the 60s or 70s. At some point, the car was restored. Patrick bought it from someone in Germany in 2016. He has now owned the car for five years, and a more recent picture shows the wonderful condition of this 1929 Hotchkiss AM 80 17CV "Biarritz" with identification number 20856.

We are looking for someone who can help us with information on the history of this Hotchkiss, from when she was sold until now. Who owned the car on this well-known Spanish island? When did she come to the mainland? And where did she go next? Who restored her, and when?

These are all questions that we would really like to find an answer to. Who can help us here?

I have some info about the car; PM 6233 is a number plate from Palma de Mallorca of the year 1934, so is more modern than the car itself. This Hotchkiss was converted into a van in the postwar years, and was rebodied as roadster in the 1960s by Talleres Vert from Girona, which also restored the entire car (mechanics etc). I have photos from some old Spanish Books which probably will be interesting for the owner...

Hi! I confirm that the licence plate PM 6233 is from Palma de Mallorca. It is possible to request a report of all people who owned this car here at any Spanish "Jefatura de Tráfico ". With this document we can know who bought new the Hotchkiss, the date of its first registration and the person who imported it to Germany. This well-known Spanish island is something like a german colony and many good old cars belonging to the Mallorcan bourgeoisie were exported to Germany. Best regards from Palma de Mallorca!
