Whatisit? Quiz # 304

This time we have a rather obscure American car for you. Obscure, yes, as only two are known to exist today. It was made during three years, but the name we want to hear from you was only used in the first year as in the two other years it had a new name (clue!), although the only thing ‘new’ was the price. Its creator started experimenting with automobiles during the 1890s and his first vehicle in 1892 had bits of garden hoses for tires. It did not go into production because of the opposition from his carriage building brothers, but later he did get into the automobile business. His idea was not to experiment anymore, but base his automobile on proven experiences from others. A production run of 5000 cars was foreseen for the first year alone, but despite the overenthusiasm the whole project failed. Our quiz car has an overhead valve 40 hp engine and you might want to know that the headlights are unique to this model. Of course we have taken out the name and arrow on the radiator. To earn the PreWarCar T-shirt at least tell us the make, the year and how many were made that first year and who made it. Any additional information is more than welcome, but do read the rules first! Send us your answer before Monday, August 1st by using the Contact Form. Have a great weekend!
