Who was Warwick Wright? (see many UPDATES)

From 1924 until 1926 the British magazine “the Autocar” ran a series of ads on the front covers that were all a variation on the same theme. The ads showed an automobile (of course) and the accompanying text always started with the words: “Warwick Wright says…” Then followed a statement in which Warwick Wright spoke his praise of the pictured automobile. For instance in 1924 the ad for the 12/32 hp Darracq Sports said: “It wins the ‘two hundred’ one, -two, -three. Over to Paris and there we see. Again at Montlery one, -two, -three. The Darracq’s the car for you and me.” And in 1926 the blurb for the Armstrong Siddeley was: “let me exchange your old car for an Armstrong Siddeley, the car of trouble-free running.” Nice little statements, but the odd thing is we don’t know who Warwick Wright was. Was he an editor of Autocar? A motoring journalist? Or …? Who amongst us is old enough to remember him ;-) Or will he remain a mystery? Please enlighten us! Update by editor: we have also received information from the great-grand-daughter of Warwick Wright. She told us that Warwick had an amazing life, from rags to riches and back again, fought in two World Wars, raced in the Olympics, drove cars, aeroplanes and speed boats, won the Brooklands speed record in a Bentley, had a string of love affairs, and his brother Howard designed aeroplanes.
