Sometimes we think a quiz is easy and then nobody reacts. Other times we think it’s probably too difficult and then we’re flooded with correct answers. But we don’t know what you think of this man holding something what looks like a bandoleon :-) We don’t tell you his nationality, but he was certainly not unknown in the USA. He was already a racing driver in 1914 and on Christmas Eve 1918 he signed a contract with a French engine-builder to become a racing driver for him and his factory. In the 1920’s he set a speed record, again in a French car. Are these enough clues? Who is this man? What important race did he win? And what record did he set? Please tell us in no more than 100 words in order to win the PreWarCar shirt.
