But now look at it from another angle. Today not only winter starts. Also summer...: Down Under! So forget a moment what winter can do to your perfect 1937 Cord 812 and look what a series of exceptionally good summers + a little lack of Ozon can do to your car.... check this Cord L-29... in a 1999 backissue of 'The Automobile' ..... (ill. Harry Anderson, collection William F. Walling )
Update II by Kit Foster: "I concur with Peter Pegg. The car is an Auburn, for the reasons he states."
Update I : Peter Pegg writes regarding the 'Cord L 29': "Gentlemen, viewed your Winter article with interest, and the alleged Cord
L29. I doubt very much if this car is a Cord. I suspect it is an Auburn.
As far as I can ascertain, the Cord was never fitted with artillery
wheels; The transmission was very evident ahead of the radiator, and the
radiator cowling was shortened to clear the transmission housing. The car
pictured will be an exciting restoration project as it has very rare
coachwork, but the photograph does not suggest a Cord.....
