A Star of the Dad's Amry film with Catherine Zeta Jones at the wheel; This Delightful Woleseley has had a major body off restoration. This is a car capable of running easily at modern traffic speeds with a silky smooth 2.4 litre six cylinder overhead valve engine & easy to use gear box. The dash board is as fine an example of Art Decco Automotive design as you will find.

The bare chassis was cleaned, all parts re-conditioned or replaced, the engine was stripped down and rebuilt with re-ground crankshaft, new pistons, new main and big end bearings, a new wiring harness was made and the car built back up ready for use. A bare metal re-paint followed plus a new interior, various re-chroming work and mechanical re-commissioning to include rebuilding the cylinder head. Since the restoration works, our Wolseley has covered around 8000 miles, it was regularly on the show circuit during the 1990's and did pick up silverware. More recent years has seen the 18/80 used on various filmsets playing a part in the BBC drama ‘Philomena', ‘The Bletchley Circle II' and in 2014 the car played a prominent role in ‘Dad's Army', a photo of Catherine Zeta Jones in the car is present in the history file. With just an extensive history its clear this Wolseley has been a much loved, cherished car and its now ready for its next chapter.

TFF 693 is an outstanding car to drive and reading an original Autocar Road test, we can see that it was indeed an exceptional car when built new. Whilst giving the impression of a solid, quiet and smooth-running motor car, we can quote Autocar in saying that the Wolseley Motor Company ‘produced something exceptional'. They went onto say its measured performance shows up very creditably, it is responsive on the road, it handles well, is thoroughly comfortable, roomy, and a well-equipped vehicle of handsome appearance and very good finish. There was no doubt the Wolseley 18/80 in it's day was found to be a fast, tractable car which was compact in the sense that it's wasn't too heavy for economical running, yet it had at the same time a broad, low floored saloon body giving generous room for five adults. Over 70 years later, this ‘exceptional' motor car now offers a comfortable, usable, powerful and luxurious motoring experience where its performance and power are far more advanced than its pre-war Saloon looks.

It has now nicely aged since its restoration; the paint work still retains a lovely deep shine, the body is in excellent condition, brightwork is of a high standard and the upholstery is stunning with beautifully aged Grey leather, fabulous woodwork and a stunning wool headlining. The car has a real presence and is equally as impressive on the road with a lovely, strong, powerful engine, smooth gearbox and wonderful handling and general performance. This is a very special car, its ultra-usable, has proven reliability and offers ideal pre-war motoring for the family with performance, luxury and reliability well beyond its years.
